When you are trimming your pom poms leave the string tail nice and long. The first step for making your own large pom is to grab 2 toilet paper rolls and while keeping them together wrap yarn around the rolls a bunch of times. The pom poms will be tied to this to form the rug itself. If you are just using pre made pom poms you can skip ahead.

For our rug we made about 150 pom poms. When you make your pom poms make sure you cut a nice long piece of string and double it up to wrap around the center. Around 2 3 per skein roll.
