We recommend the following detangling method for cat fur.
How to get rid of my cats matted hair.
Cut only the edges of the mat on the outside of the comb to loosen the fur.
Do this step gently so as not to harm or shock your cat.
Locate each knot and try to undo them or at least loosen them with your fingers.
Use a metal mat comb for cats to detach the smaller tangles.
Next apply an oil based detangling spray to loosen the fur.
Pet your cat around the ears and give her a nice scratching under the chin as you continue to brush her hair.
Prepare the matted area sprinkle a little cornstarch or talcum powder in the area of the mat and gently work it around with your fingers.
Another way you can get rid of the hair is by baking it.
The first tool to try in removing tangles is conveniently located at the end of each of your arms.
Gently pull the mat up away from the skin so you can see where the skin is.
Don t add water as this will only make the matting worse.
Once you have removed the mats you re not done yet.
Stay away from the matted areas for now.
You are not trying to cut out the entire mat just loosen it enough to comb it out.
Clean the shampoo off the cat and place it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer.
Apply some baby oil talcum powder or corn starch.
If the cat resists take a break and speak in a soothing voice petting the cat until it relaxes.
Wash the cat hair with dishwashing detergent in to get rid of the mats.
Start by holding the hair below the mat close to the skin and separate the tangled fur into smaller pieces.
Use a bit of conditioner by spraying it on smaller mats.
We like to see a good 1 4 inch or more of space between the mat and the skin before cutting.

Use your fingers to detangle minor knots loosen larger tangles and separate mats into smaller more manageable pieces.
Detangle what s left of the mat with a brush or comb.

Undo the knots and tangles and remove the dirt from.
Use a comb to lift the hair from the skin.
Cut small pieces off the top of the mat to be sure that your cat does not get cut.
Pull the mat away from the skin so you know where your cat s skin is.
You can use baking soda to clean the cat hair and then let it dry.
